Hotel Rwanda
Time Line

Blue words: cause Red words: Effect

Pre-Colonial
Hutu and Tutsi are two different groups in Rwanda. They weren't separate until the King decide to divide people into two groups. People who has more animals, moneys, or power will be a Tutsi. People who is in lower classes, will be a Hutu. So, Tutsi people usually have more power.

Colonialism
This two group live together until Germany, and Belgium move in. Belgium use the same idea to separate Hutu and Tutsi. They also separate them by their face. People who have long nose, and look more like a Belgian will also be a Tutsi. They give them more power, they control more things, and have more welfare. About 15% of Tutsi work in government, and 85% of Hutu were in lower classes.

Independent
After Belgians leave, Hutu start a lot of revolution, because they feel very unfair with the control of power. In 1972, they had a small revolution. About 200,000 Tutsi people got kill. In 1985, Hutu have more powers, but they still have a lot of revolutions.

1994, after the president got kill. People from Hutu think he was killed by Tutsi, so they start another big revolution. One million Tutsi got killed in this revolution.

Compare and Contrast
Tutsi

Tutsi is a smaller group of people in Rwanda. Tutsis often have more power since the king in the past is a Tutsi. Also, during the Belgian's control, people from Tutsi works in the government for them because they look more like Belgians. Tutsis usually have bigger, higher or longer nose, and they are taller. Tutsis are kind of proud to control the government, and to have greater power than Hutu until Belgians leave. Hutu start to kill people from Tutsi, and start a lot of revolutions.

Tutsi's perspective:
In this movie, Tutsis got killed for about a million of people. But, most of people in that day didn't care about the difference between Tutsi and Hutu. They get marry and have children, like Paul and Tatiana. Some others are good friends, like the two girl in the beginning of the movie. After this thing happened, the perspective of Tutsis are totally different, they don't have the control of the power anymore.

Hutu
Hutu has a bigger population in Rwanda. They are in the lower class for a very long times. Under the control of Tutsi's King, Hutu were know as poor people, and do not have any power. Under Germany and Belgium's control, they still live in a lower classes. Belgium separate them because they think Hutu people didn't look like them. So, they gave more power to Tutsis, who look more like Western people. After Belgium leave, Hutu change the unfair feeling into anger, and start to kill Tutsis. In 1986, they finally control more power than Tutsis, but they still want to kill them all. In 1994, they think Tutsis kill the president, so they start the revolution, and kill approximately 800,000 Tutsis.

Hutu's perspective:
Hutu don't have a lot of power in the past, and during the control of Belgians. They feel very angry, and try to revenge after Belgians leave. After Belgians leave, they control most of the government and power, and still want to kill the 14% of Tutsis in this land. In their perspective, Tutsis are cockroaches. Also, people from radio try to influence all of the Hutu, and make everyone think that kill a Tutsi is not a big deal.
As we can see in this picture, Tutsis is taller than Hutu. Also looks more like a Western people.

The third perspective ( UN, and people from other countries):
In this movie, people from other countries seem like they don't really care about this killing spree. All they want to help is people from their own country. Their was a conversation between Paul and the interviewer,I think is very interesting. They said "After they see those violet picture, they'll say, oh! This is horrible, and they'll continue eating their dinner." So,it shows that, people from other countries don't really care about this thing.

This presentation is about the special tribes in Africa. While I was searching for interesting things, I discovered those tribes are very special, so I search for it, and share to everyone. I put some primary sources such as pictures, and videos. I thought some of the picture are not very good for children, so I draw it out for everyone to understand more. I didn't put the real pictures in path, so if you want to take a look, you can find it in the prezi next to my drawing.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

Daniel's presentation is mainly about the musics in Africa. He also talk about some history of their musics, like when is the first record of their music. I think his presentation is very interesting, because I don't even know some of the instrument. Some of the instrument are very special, and you won't even know that is an instrument, but the musics it play out are very good. I love music, and I learned a lot from this present. Also, I think it is very interesting to share with everybody like my presentation.
